summer solstice

"Do you always watch for the longest day of the year and then miss it? I always watch for the longest day in the year and then miss it."
"the great gatsby"

oh, daisy, i couldn't agree more. but this year? this year i remembered. it's a quarter to eight, and the sun shows no sign of going down.
it's one of those small things that deserves recognition, this first day of summer. i didn't do anything particularly special, but spending time with friends, having lunch outside, and now watching a woody allen flick have been the perfect ways to ring it in.

welcome, summer.

  1. The days here are insanely long right now... it gets dark at about 10pm. Our neighbor said that we actually still have a few more days of longer days, something about our position geographically and with the mountains, etc.

I love it... except in the winter they say the nights last for 16+ hours. =(
