if i were to tell you about my long weekend in santa barbara and its environs i'd tell you it was a fantastic trip filled with all sorts of my favorite things.
i'd tell you that i went to the beautiful wedding of one of my dear friends, and that i had such a great time reconnecting with old friends.
i'd tell you that i was able to indulge in FOUR(!) different photobooths and even talked my mother and aunt into one with me.
i'd tell you i went wine tasting with my mother at one of the "sideways" wineries, and that we brought my father back a bottle of wine which he shunned, even though it was a pricey sucker, for having a twist-off cap.
i'd tell you that my mother and i went antique shopping in ventura where we both came away with a few items that we couldn't live without.
i'd tell you that after photoboothing we went to fifty-cent happy hour with the locals.
i'd tell you that i got to spend time with my favorite aunt, who came up from orange county, and learn that her son, who is the same age as i am, got engaged in june. june, people. and we just learned of it!
i'd tell you that most of the time, my mother didn't drive me as crazy as i thought she would have, and that no, i didn't invite her along just so i could drive her convertible.
i'd tell you that i had the most delicious cup of clam chowder for lunch in pismo beach, and lingered a little longer over it to prolong the drive home.
i'd tell you that the weather was crappy every day but sunday, where all the wedding guests met at the beach for brunch right on the beach.
i'd also tell you that i took a ton of pictures, but sometimes words are better.

marcy wrote about it ages ago and i've been using it for at least that long, but google reader is pretty much the best thing since sliced bread. if you read blogs, or like to keep tabs on other sites that have feeds, it's an invaluable way to keep tabs on things without obsessively checking to see if sites have updated.
it requires a google account (use your gmail account if you have one) and from there it's super easy!

lack of sleep this week has left me uninspired. i'm wastint time while getting ready to head down to southern california later this morning, so as usual i'm goofing off online.
this is a link i've been meaning to share for some time now, and it's freaking hysterical. watch the video. WATCH IT!

i thought i would lay low for the next week or so until i head down south for a wedding. by "laying low" i meant not going out as much, getting some rest, and saving money. as usual, i'm more successful at some of the things and not as successful at others. i've not done as well getting rest as much as i'd have liked, and although it may seem counterintuitive that i'm still saving money and going out, i have been. a month or so ago i decided i was fed up with the amount of times a week i ate out. sunday night dinner with the family aside, i set a goal of eating out only once a week. for a single person who doesn't care very much for cooking and cares for leftovers three days in a row even less, this was no small feat. i'm proud to say that i've stuck with this and my bank account shows. (oh, and i've made myself some nice meals, too!)
which is good, because i'm going to have a kick-ass time when i go to nicole's wedding next weekend. i'm driving down thursday morning and i'll probably stop a couple of times along the way.
i went to the giants game on monday night, probably my last of the season. this makes me sad, especially since the giants have been so rotten this year. but it also signifies the beginning of fall, which i recently decided is my favorite season. seasons don't mean much in california, but the slight chill in the air makes me anticipate the light sweater-wearing days of fall in california.
jewels and i went for the most delicious sushi dinner on thursday night at a place neither of us had tried. i've been craving one of their rolls since then, and i'm sure i'll head there again soon. we walked to dinner, which i enjoyed, and came back and ended the evening in the hot tub. it was a great way to end the week.
i was at work by 6 yesterday morning, so you'd think i would have slept in a bit this morning. riiiight. anj invited me to an event at laguna seca today, and while i have no interest in motorbike racing, i thought i'd go for the experience. plus, the tickets are free, so i can't argue with that. it's been about 6 years since i last was in monterey, which is only one of the most gorgeous places ever.
you never know what saying "yes" to things will bring.

not so many words today from a tired thatbeegirl. being at work until 1 ay-em will do that to you, especially when you have to turn around and do it again the next day.
it's my blog and i'll complain if i want to.
on the bright side? there's some celebrating to be done, but i'll save the reason for a day where i'm feeling more cheery.

what a weekend it was!
i took off work early on friday, although it was a little later than i intended it to be. seems that sometimes i can't extract myself from there, even when there isn't a whole lot going on, it's hard for me to leave the joints in capable hands. learning to let go will come with time, i suppose.
anyway, i headed to the city and didn't have any particular destination in mind. i decided to park near ghirardelli square and got an awesome spot on the street. i headed down to the water and people watched and enjoyed the nice breeze until my meter expired.
from there i headed to my hotel for the evening.
i did some shopping before meeting up with a group of good friends to see "avenue q."
i'm glad i acted to get us tickets to see this. crude humor at times, and definitely not for children, but the songs are catchy and the characters memorable.
after the show, we ate here and a good time was had by all over many glasses of wine.
i was up early saturday morning to head to my friend nicole's bachelorette party at her mother's home in napa. i wasn't sure how the weekend bay bridge closure would affect traffic heading north so it was an unexpected surprise when i encountered NO traffic. the weather was gorgeous, and driving across the bridge couldn't have been more pleasant.
the time i spent in napa was good fun, and it was nice to meet/catch up with some of the girls that i'll be sitting with at the wedding in two weeks.
nicole "blowing" up the 6-foot penis
THE BEST cupcakes!
peter pecker joining the 6-foot inflatable penis already in the pool (precariously placed on the edge -- dang those infinity pools -- we lost it down the side once!)
crappy shot of hot air balloons sunday morning
lots and lots of grapes
yours truly having a moment with peter pecker
i made it home in good time on sunday, worked for a bit, then met up with my sister and her bf, julia and cy and a friend of theirs for a teppanyaki dinner followed by a couple of hours on the wii.
although monday was labor day, i labored...and i found a dress for nicole's wedding! i managed to snag one at macy's but didn't have any luck on finding shoes for it. i have some time left to do so, which is good.
hope everyone had as a great a weekend as i did.
