grrr. my truck was broken in to last night at my condo complex. i always park it in the same general area, right near the building that is adjacent to mine, in a well-lit area very close to two units. some irreplaceable stuff was stolen, but then that's my fault for leaving it in the vehicle in the first place. i've already emailed the rest of the board and filed a police report, and there's not much else i can do. it's just such a violation, and to have it occur where i'm supposed to feel safe. but, as long as i don't make the same stupid mistake again i'll be okay.
Shortly after moving to California the first time my CD player was stolen out of my car. I remember getting in it that one day and all of a sudden noticing the huge, gaping hole in the dashboard, and I just felt so violated-- like you said, a place that is supposed to be your own and safe, and suddenly it didn't feel that way at all. I cannot imagine what it must be like for someone who gets their home broken into.
ReplyDeleteOf course I got the last laugh as the cd player had broken months before and didn't play cd's anymore. ; )
Had the same thing happen. Luckily they just took my book bag with school stuff in it, thinking it may have had values. What rookies. Broke my window for nothing. 6 months later a PG&E worked found my bag in the bushes with EVERYTHING in tact (found my addy in my planner). I still have the book bag, it's a lucky item!
ReplyDeleteSorry about the break in... it really is such a violation! You're right, what can you do but not leave any valuables in the car.
:( Unfortunately I know how you feel- so violated.

Ugh. So sorry to hear that...it's a terrible feeling when something is taken away from you and there's nothing you can do about it.
