The pic that will live in infamy...
This is the last pic I took with my old digital camera...before I dropped it and it fell to its death.
Fortunately, the folks where I purchased said camera were nice enough to replace the camera at no charge, even though it was very obviously a) dropped, and b) my fault.
Sometimes karma really does work.

Saw Bob Saget at the Improv last night.
I knew what to expect going in (I mean, have you seen "Half Baked," "Huff" or "The Aristocrats?") and Lis and Tim had seen him before, but wow. That man curses like a sailor. Everything was "mothereff" and talking about screwing Kimmy Gibbler ("that shit is nasty.")
We sat next to two hecklers, one calling herself "Sassafras" when Bob asked her to identify herself. 'Course she was three sheets to the wind at this point, and desperate to be reunited with her boyfriend who ended up sitting at our table cause they arrived so late and couldn't sit together. The two of them put away three shots of Jaeger and three beers each in about 20 minutes.
The other heckler near us was yelling about how he shaves his balls with a single blade razor.
Yeah, it was that kind of show.
Seeing live comedy is one of those things that I always swear I'm going to do more often. I've seen Carlos Mencia at the Improv before, and Tommy Davidson is coming next weekend. I'm going to ask around and see if anyone wants to go -- I've been a fan of his since "In Living Color." The other thing about seeing shows there is that it's a relatively cheap form of entertainment -- admission is $20, then there's a two item minimum per person.
$20 for a night out.
Ain't nothin' wrong with that.
Prolly talking about boning Kimmy Gibbler.
Singing about how Danny Tanner was not gay.
Prolly talking about Dave Coulier's shaved balls.
(sidebar: so much for me not installing software on my sister's computer--so far I've installed my camera software, firefox, itunes and photoshop. ooops.)

And to think when I wrote the last entry that I really was going to go off on something else.
I got sucked into one of those crappy Spring Break shows on MTV the other day, only because my sister's friend's brother (got that?) was one of the contestants on the dating show. He can't be more than 20, and he's adorable. Sadly, the TiVo stopped taping before the end of the show, so I didn't get to see if he got picked. Also, sadly enough, she told me he used to have a crush on me (he couldn't have been more than 13 at the time) and now he's off on ridiculous MTV dating shows. *sigh*
I went to a Sharks' game last week, my first, and probably only, one of the season. We were there for a fight (fiiiiiight!) and a hat trick and (and!) our tickets became good for a free pizza cause the Sharks scored four goals. Oh, dinner at the Old Spaghetti Factory was also a highlight of the evening.

My weekend walk around the marsh.
Mwahahaha. Obeying signs around the marsh. Kinda.

And so as if the laptop issue wasn't bad enough...
I dropped my digital camera today, the LCD is cracked.
You know, the one I bought in DECEMBER?
If there's one thing I can't live without more than my laptop, it's my camera.
Off to Best Buy again, if I can muster enough courage to face them...again.
*So I went to a different Best Buy than the one I went to, um, Monday and Tuesday for the laptop, cause I'm chickenshit like that.
The Geek Squad guy takes a look at it and goes, "You dropped it, didn't you?" I go, "Noooo. It must've hit against something in my purse?" (quite unconvincingly, in my opinion). So then he says, "Okay, if it's in the system, we'll send it in for repairs, and if it's not, we'll give you a new one and say it was defective." Because I needed to get the last word in, I asked him, "Defective? Is that kinda like 'wink, wink, nudge, nudge?" cause it was very obviously my fault, not a manufacturing defect.
So it wasn't in the system, and bing bam boom, I got a spankin' new one. On.the.spot.
I hope this experience is indicative of how smoothly things will go for the laptop repair. Best Buy has gone up in my estimation after this!

Greetings from my sister's laptop.
Because mine *sniff sniff* is Broken, with a capital B.
On Saturday I tried to remove the adaptor from the back of the laptop to use it in another room, only to find it pretty darn stuck. I finally was able to remove it, and realized that the little plastic bit on the end seemed to be...melting. I know my laptop runs hot, but sheesh! Last night it seemed hotter than usual and I again removed the adaptor and found it really melted. It's only a year and a half old, fer cryin' out loud. Thankfully I had the foresight to buy the extra warranty, so I took it into Best Buy last night and had them order me a new adaptor. I went back today after backing up as much as I could last night before the battery died and decided to have it sent it for repair.
I nearly panicked when the guy told me I'd be without it for three to six weeks. Three to six weeks may as well be a lifetime with my level of internet usage! My sister kindly offered up her laptop (after I asked, of course) for the duration in exchange for a free dinner. A free dinner! That's all! And to think I offered to buy her an iPod shuffle.
My issue with this whole ordeal is that I don't have a lot of faith in Best Buy's extended warranty program. What with them losing her camera and what these two went through with their TV, Best Buy has a lot to live down in this department. I'm hoping I can report back that Best Buy came through with flying colors.
At any rate, I'm glad to have a way to satisfy my internet addiction.

Wow, K Fed looks so much better with short hair!
BRITNEY SPEARS' husband KEVIN FEDERLINE has hacked off his hair for a charity group that makes wigs for cancer patients. The aspiring rapper is currently working on his debut album while vacationing with his family in Maui, Hawaii, but took time out to make the big-hearted gesture. Spokesperson MARILYN LOPEZ says, "He just chopped of 10 inches of his hair for Locks Of Love." She adds, "The album comes out at the end of May (06) or early summer. "He's expected to do some club dates and eventually he'll come to New York."

I recently came to the conclusion that I need to make things happen.
This may seem like an obvious conclusion to others, but it's evidently taken me longer than most to reach it.
I've decided to take the first step in "making things happen" by booking a trip to Park City, Utah for early 2007.
I'm not a skier or much of an outdoor aficionado, so Park City may not seem like an ideal destination for me, save for one fabulous event held in January, the Sundance Film Festival .
Friends will remember I was supposed to go in 2005, but things didn't pan out for multiple reasons. This time, instead of waiting on others, as I tend to do, I acted on my own and booked my own trip, so barring some horrible event, I'll be going.
I wanted to go to SXSW this year, but I can't blame anyone but myself about that one. I acted too late, and by the time I looked into tickets it was far beyond reasonable to attend.
Anyone up for Coachella next month?

I just returned from my first Photoshop class, and am pretty jazzed about the course's syllabus. I kinda wish I registered for the intermediate one, even though my experience with Photoshop is limited, because there were a couple of folks in the class that I can envision dragging us down.
You know, the "how do I turn this thing on?" folks. The "heyyy! If I move this mouse, the pointy arrow on the screen moves!" folks.
I never said I was nice. ;)
Thankfully we're allowed to work ahead and the instructor encourages us to work on our own time and make use of class time to ask him questions and really goof around. It helps that I have my very own copy of the software, courtesy of the great Cyrus , and I've muddled through to create some neat-o images.
[Somehow this comes back to the toy cameras I mentioned in the previous entry... ;) ]
Pix I've digitally manipulated to create the "Lomo effect":
I need the real thing.
Since I returned the Razr spoken of a few entries back, methinks the funds are now earmarked for the LC-A...
