scrub a dub dub

It often bugs me when people ask, "So, what did you do this weekend?" in that smarmy tone indicating they knew I did nothing other than park it on the couch.

Well, my FOUR DAY weekend (I can hardly believe it myself, especially now that it's nearly over) was spent with enough time on the couch, yes, but also some time with family and friends.

And enough time to have a couple of reeelaaaaxing baths.

I created the following "recipe" based on one I read about in a magazine a while back. It's easy, and the best part about it is that I can pretty much guarantee you have the ingredients in your kitchen (heah, if I have 'em, everyone has 'em).

Scrub a Dub Dub
1 cup sea salt (table salt is fine, but sea salt's coarse texture exfoliates better)
1/2 cup olive oil
1/2 cup oats
1 tbs. vanilla extract (feel free to experiment--I used coconut)
2 tbs. pure maple syrup

Stir all ingredients together and slather on in the bath. For added benefit, use a loofah or washcloth to rub the mixture. Rinse thoroughly. The tub'll get a bit slippery, so be careful when climbing out.

Maybe I'll whip up a batch and share with friends; it'll harken back to when I used to make soaps as gifts... ;)

  3. I'm glad you're getting back into the baths! At least you don't have any blue paint clogging up the drains....

  4. I am going to try that...I made some salt scrubs once, but the grains were so coarse that it hurt...but this one sounds good. Thanks!

  5. I miss my couch. It's still there, but without the TV its really not the same...

I need to make a trip to the library, get something to help rekindle my love affair with the couch.
